The Germania Credit Union (GCU) celebrated its new secure, modern space with an open house and ribbon cutting Wednesday hosted by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce.
GCU, a full-service financial institution with over 2,700 members, hosted an all-day, grand opening event for the public, featuring a ribbon cutting, giveaways, and door prizes. Located inside Germania Insurance’s corporate office, GCU now shares a front lobby with the insurance company, which allows for access to additional security with one shared entrance and an on-duty security guard.
“This new location is a great space for our Germania Credit Union employees to assist our local members,” GCU President Nick Tonelli said. “The additional security will create a safer environment for those working inside the building and for those coming in from the outside.”
GCU serves Germania Insurance team members, policyholders, agents, and the local community. In 2021, GCU saved its members over $2.4 million in interest by refinancing or consolidating high-interest loans, mortgages, and credit card balances.
In an effort to expand its services, GCU’s new, modern space features a cash-recycler machine for faster and more efficient cash transactions, as well as a brand-new conference room for team collaboration and mortgage closings.
“This is the first time GCU has had a conference room to call its own,” Tonelli said. “At this table, we hope to bring the reality of homeownership to many of our members.”
