Germania Farm Mutual Insurance Association (GFMIA): organized in 1896, is a farm mutual insurance company operating under Chapter 911 of the Texas Insurance Code. GFMIA provides property insurance for dwellings, churches, and organizational property. Germania Farm Mutual Insurance Association is the parent company of the Germania subsidiaries. The President/CEO and the directors from all the districts constitute the Board of Directors.
Germania Insurance Company (GIC), Germania Fire & Casualty Company (GF&C), and Germania Select Insurance Company (GSIC) are wholly owned subsidiaries of Germania Farm Mutual created to provide members with auto, casualty, and property coverage. GIC was organized in 1978 and is a “standard” tier company. GF&C was organized in 1985, and GSIC was organized in 2002; both are considered “preferred” tier auto companies.
Germania General Agency (GGA) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Germania Select Insurance Company (GSIC) and was formed to provide products for members that Germania Farm Mutual and its subsidiary companies do not offer. GGA began in 1980 under the name Bluebonnet General Agency and was a wholly owned subsidiary of Germania Insurance Company (GIC). In August 1999, the name was changed to Germania General Agency. On July 1, 2008, Germania Select Insurance Company became the sole shareholder of GGA.
Germania Premium Finance (GPF) is a limited liability company whose only member is Germania General Agency and was formed to create a premium finance company. Organized in 2017, GPF provides premium financing for policies written through GGA, as well as policies written outside of Germania.
Germania Life Insurance Company (GLIC), another wholly owned subsidiary, was organized in 1983 to provide life insurance products to members and policyholders. Germania Life is a stock company regulated by the Texas Department of Insurance. GLIC is now referred to as GermaniaLIFE in all sales and marketing materials.
Germania Property & Casualty Insurance Company (GP&C) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Germania Farm Mutual created to provide residential property insurance to policyholders. GP&C began in 2006 under the name Texas Heritage Insurance Company. In June 2022, Texas Heritage Insurance Company was renamed GP&C to better align with the Germania companies and family branding. GP&C is wholly owned by Germania Farm Mutual and is currently licensed to operate only in the state of Texas.
Germania Credit Union (GCU), organized in 1986, is a nonprofit financial corporative owned by its members. Located at Germania’s Home Office in Brenham, Texas, GCU services Germania policyholders, local chapter officials, agents, team members, and their families, as well as the local Brenham community. GCU offers a full range of banking services including consumer loans, mortgage loans, savings accounts and checking accounts. There are nine members on the board who are elected from the GCU membership for a three-year term.
