Germania Insurance was honored to provide relief and resources for local first responders by supporting the festivities of the 53rd annual Fireman’s Fiesta hosted by the Brenham Fire Department.
Germania gifted the department a $3,000 donation and provided a four-ticket package to see Reba McEntire at Moody Center in Austin as part of the raffle drawing.
“The threat of wildfires has been so strong this summer, and our hearts have gone out to the first responders fighting the blazes,” said Germania President/CEO Brandon Keller. “We hope our contributions can provide relief and needed resources as they continue to keep our communities safe.”
The Fireman’s Fiesta is the Brenham Fire Department’s biggest fundraiser of the year. This year, the department raised approximately $70,000. Proceeds from the event go toward training local firefighters and making improvements to the Fireman’s Training Center.
Germania has many local ties to the Brenham Fire Department, as both organizations cross paths while servicing the surrounding communities during disasters. Several team members are involved with the department and its many outreach efforts, including Germania’s Controller Shelley Scheffer, whose husband serves as the department’s assistant chief and emergency management coordinator.
“This was a uniquely special opportunity for me,” said Scheffer, who also serves as the president of the Brenham Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. “Witnessing the community – including Germania – showing up in full force for the department is very humbling. Germania’s show of support for the department is greatly appreciated and will provide much-needed resources that will go back into our community.
