Community Volunteer Program
“We become better not just by the work we do inside the building, but what we do outside in the community,” Germania’s Chief Human Resources Office Carol McBride said.
Germania was built on the idea of neighbors coming together to support one another. As we have grown over the years, we recognize that our responsibility towards building a better community for our neighbors has grown, too.
But building a better community takes commitment, time, and volunteers willing to give both. That’s why Germania is proud of our Employee Volunteer Program and all of the people that make it successful each year.
With this program, we encourage our employees to take time to give back to their community. To make this possible, every employee has the added benefit of an annual allotment of dedicated volunteer hours in addition to standard sick and vacation time. Since 2016, our employees have given over 660 hours to a variety of organizations and causes across Texas, such as food drives, blood drives, scholastic mentorship programs, county fairs, and more.
Below are just a few of the many programs our employees have participated in through the Employee Volunteer Program:
- Children Are Really Special (CARS) Scholastic Mentorship Program
- Washington County Fair
- Relay for Life
- The Special Olympics
- Blood Drives
- 4H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) Youth Programs
While we encourage our employees to do their part and lend a helping hand in their respective communities, we also know that we all have a part to play in stopping the spread of COVID-19. That’s why we ask all of our employee to choose their volunteer opportunities with care and follow the health and safety practices and social distancing guidelines outlined by the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
