Circuit of the Americas Food Drive
The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the growing need for food-related assistance in our communities. While the Circuit of the Americas racetrack had cancelled upcoming events, it organized a literal “food drive” to raise donations for the Central Texas Food Bank. As a proud partner of COTA, Germania Insurance was eager to join the effort.
Putting a spin on the classic food drive concept, visitors were allowed to drive their cars on the 3.4-mile track, which annually hosts Formula One’s U.S. Grand Prix. Donations were encouraged online, with COTA (along with Austin Bold FC) and Germania Insurance each matching up to $10,000. While financial contributions made the biggest difference – every $1 could provide up to four meals for a family in need - drivers also had the opportunity to drop off cash or nonperishable food items at “touchless” locations inside the pit garages.
By the end of the event, the food drive had raised $200,000, providing over 1.6 million meals.
