Washington County Response Fund

Small businesses are the backbone of our community. They employ our neighbors, sponsor the local sports teams, and provide diverse, homegrown food options.

While Congress has pledged $350 billion through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, some small businesses struggled to access the funds within the time necessary to save their business.

As a part of the Washington County community, Germania donated $10,000 to the Washington County COVID-19 Response Fund organized by the City of Brenham. These funds went toward at-risk small businesses with fewer than 20 full-time employees.

“Serving our local community has always been very important to us, and small businesses play a major role in bringing growth and innovation to the community,” President and CEO Paul Ehlert said. “It is our corporate responsibility to be here during these challenging times to support our fellow businesses who may need a helping hand.”

We also encouraged our agencies to extend a helping hand in their communities by providing hot meals or gift cards to essential workers or donating to their local food bank.
